Description: The Summer and Winter weave structure offers many possibilities to weave both traditional and modern fabrics. Students will learn how to design an original warp based on colour and pattern blocks then experiment with numerous treadlings to achieve unique fabrics.
Prerequisite: Must know how to make a warp and dress a loom independently from back to front. Weaving 1 (formerly Intro to Weaving – Table Loom)
Students should bring: Three cones of 8/2 cotton in three close colours( When you twist the three together none of them should jump out but all blend together); two small cones of darker or lighter yarns same size but different colour than warp; small amounts of heavier weft. Graph paper, pencils, erasers, ruler, measuring tape. Table looms are provided or bring your own including a 10 or 12 dent reed, lease sticks, sley hook; heavy paper or warp sticks for winding on warp cut to size.
