Description: You’ve learned how to warp a rigid heddle loom. Now it’s time to expand your weaving repertoire while creating cotton towels. With your pre-warped loom, you will learn how to set up for warp and weft floats. This is a great opportunity to become familiar with a finer sett (12.5 epi) and a new fibre (cotton).
Prerequisite Intro to Rigid Heddle or equivalent, able to warp a Rigid Heddle loom independently
Students should bring: Pre-warped loom (16 or 24″ wide), 12.5 dpi heddle, weft yarn,stick shuttle, ruler, darning needle. Instructor will provide more detailed instructions for warping and materials after registration.
(NB: Rigid Heddle looms may be borrowed from the Guild for the workshop. Arrangements to pick up a loom must be made with the Weaving Rental coordinator rentals@ovwsg.com well in advance of the workshop. A refundable deposit, in the form of a cheque, is required in order to remove equipment from Heartwood House. Non members using guild looms MUST return them at the end of the workshop.)
Materials fee: none, students will provide their own materials.
NOTE: Tickets go on sale to members on August 16, 2023. Non-member tickets open on August 31, 2023. The registrar will be checking membership status and canceling any registrations by made by non-members using the member rate.
