This workshop replaces Weaving 1.5 Just Beyond Beginners and Refresher for Lapsed Weavers

Description: You have just completed your first Beginning Weaving class but still need additional tools to become more confidant in creating fabric, or your last project was a while ago and you need some reminders to get you started again.  Topics covered include:

  • reading and creating drafts and profile drafts
  • warping – warp reeling, calculating warp length, managing multiple colours, dressing the loom (students will wind warps for two sampling projects)
  • sett
  • review and add to weaving vocabulary
  • managing 2 or more shuttles
  • the importance of beat
  • colour and weave structures
  • colour choices and sampling

Prerequisite: Weaving 1 or equivalentweaving on a loom

Students should bring: Notebook, large scale graph paper, pencil, eraser, and ruler.

Materials fee: $20 includes all the materials required for the workshop.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations less than 8 weeks before the workshop will be subject to a 25% cancellation fee. Cancellations less than 2 weeks before start date will not be refunded. If you must cancel please email the Workshops Registrar at workshops@ovwsg.com.
