Student is new to the subject and has no experience. Or the student would like to take a thorough refresher in the topic. There is no expectation of prior knowledge for this workshop.
Novice (N
Student has some experience or has taken at least one class in the subject. These workshops are for beginners who want to refine skills from the beginner workshop or develop more skill and technique. Expectation of familiarity with the general concept but may still require prompting or assistance in performing some of the steps required in the topic. (Warp the loom with a few reminders / Not fully consistent ability to spin with a drop spindle or wheel. But grasping the general concept.)
Intermediate (I)
Student is familiar with the subject, feels comfort-able working in the topic and has some experience. Students have completed several classes and have a developed vocabulary as well as a general knowledge of the subject.
Knowledge from the beginner level workshops is assumed and will not necessarily be reviewed. Students should be comfortable starting and finishing projects. This workshop will be covering new material or refining a technique. (Comfortable independently warping a loom and winding a warp and basic drafting/ comfortable independently with spinning on wheel or drop spindle.
Advanced (A)
Student is capable of working independently at a high skill and knowledge level in the topic. Usually students have several years of training. Expectation that the student has a thorough working knowledge of beginner and intermediate concepts is assumed. This level workshop will combine concepts, present advanced technique and will be more challenging for the student.
